SPLENDACREST STABLES

Fun for kids of all ages!

Programs for Children

Confidence around horses

Splendacrest Stables offers young children (5 - 12 years) the opportunity to spend time with and around horses.  These sessions are offered for a minimum of 2 participants, and up to a maximum of 5 at a time.  You can choose to spend 2 or 3 hours at the Stables, learning how to pat and lead a horse, how to groom, feed and wash a horse, and how to have fun with horses.

There is no riding available in this program, but rather the focus is on gaining confidence on the ground.  Depending upon the time of year, we also have foals to pat, older horses to feed, and plenty of other fun things to do!

Birthday Parties for small groups

We also offer to host Birthday Parties for small groups (4-8 children).  You can bring your own birthday cake, but we can provide everything else including drinks and party favours.  NO CANDLES (because we have lots of flammable stuff around)!

The program includes a safety session for all participants, a tour of the farm, a leadline pony ride for all participants, basic grooming instruction, barn games, and much more!  Parents are welcome to attend free of charge.

Leadline pony rides

Does your child want to ride a horse?  We offer 1/2 hour lead-line pony rides for children of all ages.  This session is carried out on a reliable horse, being hand led by one of our grooms around our arena, and with plenty of opportunity for photos!

Horse Riding Lessons (7 years and up)

If your child is driving you batty asking for riding lessons, then Splendacrest Stables is the right place for you!  We offer beginners riding lessons for children aged 7 and up, and also offer more advanced lessons for kids who have already had lessons elsewhere.

Our riding lessons are not just about getting on a horse and riding.  All students learn to do everything for themselves, as it is all part of learning to ride a horse!  They will learn to do the following:

   * Catch their horse

   * Groom their horse

   * Saddle and bridle their horse

   * Mount and dismount correctly

   * Steer, stop, turn and go

   * Walk, trot and canter

Lessons are available on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, and can be scheduled for after school hours at two time slots:  3:30pm - 4:45pm and 4:45pm - 6pm.
